Social Responsibility
Songwa Estates is not a profit making endeavor for the partners. It’s scope is to
provide educational experiences to specialty coffee industry stakeholders. All three
of the partners believe that it is necessary and desirable for us to be good neighbors
and to contribute to the wellbeing and development of the local villages around the
farm. To this end, we are establishing a ‘community fund’ for projects and are
beginning with the partners own donations to assist orphans in the farm area to
attend primary school. Additionally, USD 100 of each tour participant’s payment
will go into this fund and be used for future community development projects.
Profits fromfarming activities, after establishment of a capital reserve for future
operations, will be used to this end as well. There will be no management fees or
overhead for the operation of the fund and actual monies will be distributed as closely
to the end users as possible and will be monitored by our local partners. The focus
of future projects will be on sustainable initiatives in the areas of education, health
care and basic nutrition. Please feel free to contact any of the partners if you wish
