Educational Trips – Dates
The three day in-depth programme is dedicated to the processing steps, from
the seed to the availability of green coffee for exportation. Participants, in
addition to hands-on tasks and training on the farm, will gain knowledge on
the theoretical aspects related to processing.

day 1 - biology to picking: flow chart for entire green coffee process,visit of
coffee nursery, composition of the plant, coffee growing areas, comparison between
Arabica / Robusta, preconditions for cultivation, disease and pest control, protection
against wind and sun, irrigation and fertilisation; hands-on e.g.: planting coffee in
a seedling bag.
day 2 - picking to pulping process: witnessing the picking and pulping process;
hands-on e.g.: selective coffee picking in the field; turning over coffee on the trays;
removing unpulped cherries; sewing coffee bags; planting trees in the coffee garden.
day 3 - milling and cupping: witnessing the process in a milling factory, green coffee
grading and defects, cupping on the Utengule Coffee Farm
